Developing Excellence in the Arts

BADA is an arts organisation with charitable status, established in 1986. Our main objective is to advance public education and appreciation for excellence in the arts, by promoting the disciplines of fine art, design, and craft. We do this by developing and promoting artists and designers through a variety of creative enterprise opportunities.

We are constructing a digital archive – The Post-1945 Liverpool Fine Art Archive – which will feature past and present artists of high merit who are associated with Liverpool. The archive will complement the other projects that we hope to bring to fruition in the coming months and years… projects such as the Hilbre Island arts and science centre, which will be an ongoing process of exploration and design.

Liverpool John Moores University Face Lab is also working with BADA on projects to bring past artists to life… These and other exciting projects will be found on our News page in the coming months.

BADA Projects

BADA has recently established a publishing workstream through BADA Projects, to sell new art books created by a small group of authors who are predominantly arts and design practitioners.  The first book – The Vessel – is an autobiographical memoir by the internationally renowned artist, Terry Duffy, which charts his life and work in art and has been described as a must-read for anyone interested in what inspires an artist.

Further books will be posthumous publications by Fanchon Fröhlich; a book on the theories and experimentation of printmaker, SW Hayter, and another, which compiles her numerous academic papers on art theory. In addition, BADA has commissioned an autobiography by Lizzie Rowe, an artist who uses her experiences with LGBTQ issues to inform and inspire her work.

Books and art prints can be bought through BADA Projects; proceeds from sales will provide a revenue for BADA to reinvest for arts development works and charitable activities
